Chinese Char Siu Ribs

Skip the Chinese BBQ meat store and makes these delicious ribs at home!

Ingredients

  • 6 cloves garlic
  • 1 tsp 5 spice powder
  • 1/2 tsp white ground pepper
  • 2 Tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 Tbsp hoison sauce
  • 2 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 2 Tbsp Xiao Sing Wine
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 4 tsp kosher salt
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 5 1/2# Pork Ribs (remove the silver skin)

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 Tbsp water (to thin out the marinate)

Instructions

Add all ingredients up to the pork meat into a zip-lock bag to marinate the ribs. Save 1/4 cup of the marinate for glaze later.

Cut the ribs; add marinate to the ribs.

Marinate for at least 1 hour or more.

Add a cup of water into the instant pot with a rack. Put the ribs on the rack. Set the ribs into the instant pot for high for 15 minutes (for fall off the bone cook for 18 mins). Then use quick release.

Line a pan with parchment paper place the ribs on the pan and cook with the glaze. Broil for ribs for 5 minutes, then flip the ribs and cook for another 3-4 minutes.
